Oppose New Gas Pipeline at Indian Point Nuclear Plant

A giant fracked-gas pipeline is being built to run within 105 feet of critical structures at the Indian Point nuclear power plant, the most accident-prone in the world. An explosion in this pipeline could cause a Fukushima on the Hudson, affecting 20 million New York residents, making the entire region uninhabitable for generations, and destroying the US's financial center.

Why is this important?

I live in Manhattan and I'm also a journalist who has written about this lunatic project. But the entire nation should be concerned. Building a highly volatile natural gas pipeline to skirt the most accident-prone nuclear power plant in the world is unthinkable, yet it is going through. If the pipeline explodes, it could cause a Fukushima on the Hudson, affecting over 20 million New York State residents, making the entire region uninhabitable for generations, obliterating the financial center of the country and impacting the entire United States. I urge signatories to demand that their elected officials in turn demand that President Obama order the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to halt this dangerous construction.
