Senators: End the shutdown!

Let's make some noise to demand Senate Republicans reopen the government! MoveOn members, friends, and neighbors are heading to Senate offices in key states to deliver petitions, share stories of how we're being impacted by the shutdown, and declare, "Reopen the government without paying the hateful border wall ransom to Trump's tantrum!" We are officially in the longest government shutdown ever. Hundreds of thousands of federal works and contractors have gone nearly a month without pay, leading some of them to make unthinkable choices between putting food on the table and paying for lifesaving medicines.

Enough is enough. A bill to reopen the government passed the House, and yet Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell won't even bring it up for a vote before the Senate. Senate Republicans can end this shutdown, but they are choosing to ignore it. Between January 19 and 25, we will be visiting senators' offices in key states and delivering our message: "Don’t let Trump hold the government hostage over his hateful and wasteful border wall. Demand Sen. McConnell hold a vote to open the government NOW, with not one penny for the wall." We know some Republican senators are feeling pressure—all the more reason to turn up the heat, get local media attention, and force them to work for all of us without giving in to Trump's racist agenda.
