Host a "No War with Iran" event!

We will not be forced into another war. On Thursday, January 9, at 5 p.m. local time, the anti-war majority in this country will get visible to oppose Trump's war and say #NoWarWithIran.

Trump's reckless action has needlessly endangered countless lives of U.S. troops, Iraqis, Iranians, and countless other civilians. The devastation that a war with Iran could bring upon the earth and humanity cannot be overstated—millions of lives hang in the balance. None of us will win, except politicians and corporations. Even more resources that our communities desperately need will be wasted on unnecessary violence. People in the United States and across the globe are tired of war—from the military families who have seen multiple generations serve in the same conflict, to the Iranian, Iraqi, and Afghan families in the United States who worry for their loved ones back home.

We've learned our lessons from Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen and global endless war. We will not be lied into another war. We will not allow our Iranian-American and Muslim neighbors to be targeted by law enforcement. We will not be divided.

When Trump acts with ignorance, fear and ego, we will act with diplomacy and prioritize what is best for humanity. We are the majority. We stand united. And we oppose Trump's war with Iran.

Sign up here to organize a grassroots event in a high-traffic location in your community this Thursday, January 9, that communicates loud and clear to the public, the media, to Trump, and to members of Congress of both parties that the majority of Americans stand firmly against Trump’s march to war, including the detainment of Iranian-American citizens and continued reckless actions that threaten countless lives.

Events should:

• Be in high-traffic, high-visibility location in your community. Our audience is the American public. This could be high-visibility street corners during commuting hours, a well-lit town square or town hall, a popular shopping area, or other place with high visibility and easy access for like-minded people to join you and reporters to cover your action.
• Take place on Thursday, January 9, 2020 - one week after Trump ordered the illegal assassination of Iran’s military leader.
• Take place at 5 pm local time, to maximize visibility during the evening commute and the evening news. This is a strong recommendation, though you’ll know what works best in your community.
• Carry the consistent, clear message: No more war. No to Trump’s war with Iran. Yes to diplomacy abroad and civil rights at home.
• Be in consultation with the people most directly impacted by Trump’s march to war: Iranian-Americans, Iraqi-Americans, Muslim Americans, military families and veterans, young people. Reach out to local organizations.
