The house votes to remove Republican Lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene from committee roles.

Greene made comments that support conspiracy theories like— California wildfires starting from laser beams.

Chants were heard throughout downtown Bakersfield saying, "We're here to demand that Kevin McCarthy represent his people."

A protest in Bakersfield started at Jastro Park downtown and ended in front of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy's office.

Brian Russom a local political activist says, "We need to get rid of Kevin McCarthy— we really can't wait until 2022 because he's a very dangerous person.”

Protesters called on McCarthy to remove Georgia lawmaker Majorie Taylor Greene from her two committee assignments in the House.

They wanted to apply pressure on local leaders regarding the latest in Washington. Neel Sannappa is an organizer with Our Revolution Kern County. Sannappa says, “What we want is for [Greene] to be removed from those education committees because those kinds of conspiracies don't belong in our democracy."

And that's exactly what happened in the House due to Greene's comments that supported extremist conspiracy theories such as school shootings being a hoax.

Russom says, "To leave her on these committees is totally inexcusable, you can't someone who is like that representing the United States of America."

A few hours following the protest— the house voted to remove Greene but protesters still don't see too much happening for the political party that Greene is a part of.

Sannappa says, "I think we're going to see eventually the death of the Republican Party."

Right before the vote, McCarthy said he condemns the comments made by Greene. But he blames the Democrats for pushing through a “dangerous new standard” on who disciplines the party.

"The difference is the new standard. I look forward to continuing out the standard. Because if you look for a side that has a leadership, that's done something, when their members do something as a member, not prior— look to me," says McCarthy.

Meanwhile, we're just learning Greene tweeted that she will hold a press conference Friday. We will bring you those updates,
