Texas State Board of Education: Do not eliminate Helen Keller & Hillary Clinton from the history ...

This petition is opposing the recent vote by the Texas State Board of Education to eliminate Helen Keller and Hillary Clinton from the history curriculum. The final vote by the SBOE will take place on Thursday, November 15, 2018.

Why is this important?

The Texas School Board of Education recently voted to eliminate historical figures Helen Keller and Hillary Clinton from the required history curriculum.. In reality, it could be erasing contributions groundbreaking women have had in our nation.

In addition to her many years of public service, Clinton was the first woman to be the nominee for President of a major political party. That is important history.

And Hellen Keller was the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree and was a pioneer in the disability rights movement.

USA Today reports the Republican-dominated board's decision could affect over 5 million public school students.

I hope others here with me in Texas and all concerned individuals from across the nation will sign and share this petition.
