Host a "Don't Take Away Our Health Care" Speak-out

Republicans plan to jam legislation through Congress to repeal Obamacare and deeply slash Medicare and Medicaid...before Trump is sworn in, handing him a bill to sign on his first day in office. This legislation would endanger health care for tens of millions of Americans. It must be stopped.

We have a path to victory. The GOP is using special Senate rules to dodge a Democratic filibuster, but if we can convince just three Republican senators to oppose the repeal, we'll win. Several Republicans are already wavering. It's our job to demonstrate that there's nothing more politically toxic than taking away our health care.

That’s why, on Tuesday, December 20, MoveOn members are joining allies across the country to greet Republican senators and representatives, home on holiday recess, with a clear message: Don't take away our health care. At these speak-outs, we will tell our members of Congress and the media why the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, and Medicare are important to us and our families.

Instructions for hosts:

  • All events should be held during business hours on Tuesday, December 20, in front of (or very near) your senator's or representative's office.
  • For the venue, please list the office—i.e., "Senator X's Springfield Office."
  • Lunch hour is generally a good time to hold your event to maximize attendee turnout and media coverage.
  • Please ensure the event is held on public property and not on private property (where you could be asked to leave).
