Host a Resistance Recess Event: Save our Health Care, Our Communities, and Our Democracy

*Events posted after February 24 will not get an email recruit.*

The week of February 18–26 is the first recess of the 115th Congress—time specifically set aside for members of Congress to meet with constituents and get the pulse of the communities they represent.

This is the perfect time to raise our voices. We will show up at our elected officials' events, town halls, and other public appearances to make it clear to those who represent us, as well as to the media, that tolerance of Trump's hurtful agenda is unacceptable and politically toxic.

Will you sign up to host a Resistance Recess action February 18-26?

There are two kinds of events you can sign up to host:

1. Is your representative or one of your two senators hosting an event such as a town hall meeting or office hours, or speaking in public during the week of February 18-26? If so, enter that information below. We'll help spread the word and recruit fellow constituents to join you in making your voices heard at that event.

2. Has your representative or one of your two senators not yet scheduled a public event with constituents during the week of February 18-26? If so, you can create your own Constituent Town Hall and invite your member of Congress, fellow constituents, and local news media. Register your event below, and we'll help spread the word and recruit fellow constituents to join you. (And check out the Constituent Town Hall guide from our friends at Indivisible for tips on planning your event.)

      Event rules

      Here are the basic requirements for event hosts:

      Whether you've hosted an action before or not, we will provide you with all the information you need to hold a successful event! Hosting an action is simple and fun.  You’ll be provided with a host guide, invited to join a prep call for event hosts, and you’ll receive support to invite attendees and the media to your event. We will work hard to review all questions that are emailed to us.

      By creating an event, you are agreeing to serve as the host of the meeting. Your responsibilities as host include:

      • Arranging that all the necessary materials are brought to the event (you can ask other participants for help).
      • Contacting and communicating with the people who participate in your event. We will encourage attendees not to attend an event where the host has not confirmed their participation.
      • Filing a quick post-meeting report.

      Here are the rules for hosting events:

      (5) obtain all permits and licenses necessary to hold the Event;

      (6) communicate and coordinate with local law enforcement authorities to make them aware of the Event and offer to coordinate and cooperate with them in arranging for security of Event participants and the public, to the extent applicable and necessary

      You are authorized to distribute all materials MoveOn provides to, including through his Site, you for use in organizing and putting on your Event.
