Tell your member of Congress on Monday: #ListenToAdy and vote NO on the #GOPTaxScam!
Ady Barkan has been crisscrossing the U.S. to fight against the Republican tax scam—all while fighting for his life after being diagnosed with ALS (also called Lou Gehrig's disease).
Monday is Ady’s 34th birthday, and he’ll be celebrating by coming back to Washington, D.C. to protest against the tax scam as the House and Senate prepare to vote on the final version of this massively unpopular bill, which would slash health care, hike taxes for tens of millions of middle-class families, and pave the way to savage cuts to Medicare and Medicaid.
Ady is not giving up—and he's asking us not to give up either.
Thousands of Americans will be making their voices heard on Monday at actions in Washington, D.C. and across the country. Can you join them? Bring a few friends to your senator's or representative's office, take with you a picture of someone impacted by the bill, and tell your member of Congress to vote NO on the #GOPTaxScam. If your member of Congress is a Democrat, thank them for standing strong. If your member of Congress is a Republican, demand they vote NO.
It's important to share your story with your member of Congress or their staff when you visit.
Inspired by Ady's story and the stories of so many others, we're encouraging everyone to drop by in-district offices on Monday with a photo of your yourself, family, or loved ones—with a personal note written on the back about how the tax scam would affect your and their lives.
Once you're there, take a picture with your photo in front of the office and share it, using the hashtags #GOPTaxScam and #ListenToAdy, tagging your member of Congress and @MoveOn. Or take a Facebook Live video, telling the world how this immoral bill would hurt you and your loved ones (and here some tips to get you started on Facebook Live from our partners at Working Families Party).
Let's throw everything we've got at this.
