Host a "Let's Make a Date" Valentine's Day Rally
Many members of Congress haven't yet scheduled town hall meetings with constituents for the February congressional recess, which is fast approaching (Feb. 18-26).
And, in the last week we've seen Trump give handouts to Wall Street at the expense of consumers and rush forward the Dakota Access Pipeline, and push through more dangerous Cabinet picks. We deserve the chance to meet publicly with our representatives to discuss these vital issues for our democracy.
That's why, this Valentine's Day, February 14, we'll visit our senators and representatives' local offices with a clear demand: "Let's Make a Date: Host a Town Hall!"
The growing #ResistTrumpTuesdays movement has brought out tens of thousands of people to congressional offices across the country and turned media and public opinion against Trump's Cabinet picks and attempts to cut health care. Our next step is to demand more town hall meetings directly with our members of Congress during the February recess.
Instructions for hosts:
- All events should be held during business hours on Tuesday, February 14, in front of (or very near) your senator's office.
- For the venue, please list the office—i.e., "Senator X's Springfield Office." You can find your senators' district office locations on this map or by searching the senators' websites.
- Lunch hour is generally a good time to hold your event to maximize attendee turnout and media coverage.
- Please ensure the event is held on public property and not on private property (where you could be asked to leave).
