Host a Nobody Is Above the Law Community Meeting
Thank you for stepping up to host a community meeting and/or sign-making party to support our "Nobody Is Above the Law" initiative on Saturday April 28 or Sunday April 29. It's an important opportunity to build the team that can work to prevent a Mueller firing or take swift action if a firing occurs.
Creating an event is easy! Just fill out the form below to begin, and complete the confirmation email that will be sent to you for the event to go live.
You can organize the event in your home, if you have the room, or a local community space. Choose a place that's conducive to good group conversation and accessible for folks to get to—perhaps the local library, a park, or office space you have permission to use. You don't need to find a venue that will fit your entire rapid-response list; only a small number of people intending to protest are interested in attending a meeting, but don't invite 5,000 people to a studio apartment! If you aren't 100% sure where you'll hold the meeting yet, that's OK—just register the event with where you think it will be, and you can always change the location if your RSVPs outgrow your living room.
If you are hosting a sign-making party, you can set your event to be either public or private. Events marked as public will , whereas those marked private will not appear on the map or receive recruitment support from MoveOn, and will only be visible to those who receive a direct link from you.
MoveOn staff and volunteers will support you at each step—from developing an agenda for the meeting to offering tips on the types of actions you and your attendees can plan together. We will help you recruit to your event, provide materials to help plan your meeting, hold a prep call a few days before the event to go through all the details, and respond to individual questions along the way. And we'll continue to provide ways for hosts of the "Nobody Is Above the Law" events to continue to learn from each other. These events are happening at a moment of heightened awareness about the need to defend the Mueller investigation, so you may meet some new folks. It's a chance for constructive planning, but it should also be enjoyable as you get to know other folks in your neighborhood committed to confronting Trump's attacks on our democracy. Please note that only events on Saturday or Sunday, April 28 or 29, 2018 will be supported with recruitment from MoveOn. You may host your event on another date without receiving recruitment support.
Partner organizations are urging that no more than one event take place per rapid-response rally team, to minimize the amount of time spent on logistics and maximize the size of each group. If an event already exists near you, please consider attending that event rather than creating your own. You can contact an existing event host to offer assistance after RSVPing to the event. That person can add attendees as co-hosts if they are able to offer additional organizing support.
