Donald Trump is trying to put himself above the law. But we won’t allow it.
We're preparing to hold emergency "Nobody Is Above the Law" rallies around the country, in the event Trump fires special counsel Robert Mueller or otherwise compromises the investigation. There are 900+ protests planned, in every state, with 360,000 of us pledged to act!
And there's a lot we can do before we launch these events—so we're organizing community meetings and sign-making parties across the country on Saturday and Sunday, April 28 and 29.
At these meetings, we will
- get to know each other as we prepare to take action together;
- create hand-made signs that we can have ready for our rapid-response rallies;
- further prepare for local rapid-response events, from drawing in more participants to developing the program of the events;
- discuss how we will ensure protests are safe and peaceful, with tips on security precautions and de-escalating conflict, and
- talk about what collective actions we might take, both now to prevent a firing and following our planned rapid-response events, if we need to defend a democracy in crisis!
We hope the rapid-response events are never needed. But the rallies, should they happen, don't need to be the first time we meet each other face-to-face! Making signs is fun and an easy way to get to know each other. Connecting now will strengthen our events and allow us to continue working to improve our democracy together, whether or not we swing into rapid response.
