Tell Congress and President Biden: No U.S. tax dollars for weapons to harm civilians in Gaza

More than 35,000 civilians have been killed in Gaza since October 7. Of the civilians killed, 70% are women and children. And these figures don’t include the tens of thousands injured in Gaza by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's escalating military campaign of air strikes (and violations of international law) targeting and bombing civilians in refugee camps, hospitals, homes, mosques, churches, and schools. And the U.S. is using our taxpayer dollars to do it. It's heartbreaking and wrong, and we can do something about it.

Nearly 35,000 civilians have been killed in Gaza since October 7.

And every ten minutes, another child is killed by Israeli military air strikes led by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Gaza. This means that every ten minutes, there is a child who will never get to fulfill their dreams. A child who will never get to fulfill their childhood, their teenage years, or their adult years, and a family that will never get to watch their kid grow up.

International law mandates that Israel has legal responsibilities to protect Palestinian civilians, and to allow humanitarian aid, including food, to reach people. Yet Netanyahu's government continues to ignore these laws, as it has been doing for months. While the Biden administration has called for an immediate ceasefire, it has to go further than just words. A permanent ceasefire is long overdue, AND the U.S. should not provide more weapons or spend even more taxpayer dollars on killing innocent civilians in Gaza.

There are compounding crises within the United States that deserve the ample amounts of funding and attention that the government has been supplying to the Israeli government for its indiscriminate airstrike campaign. It's not difficult to understand: Continuously arming and funding Netanyahu and the Israeli military will not bring home Israeli hostages or address the devastating humanitarian crisis in Gaza—in fact, it's exacerbating these crises.

I’m urging you to continue to push for a permanent ceasefire and to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those who need it in Gaza. That is the role the U.S. should play here, not sending endless funds without conditions to Netanyahu to further fuel this violent campaign against civilians in Gaza. The U.S. has poured billions into the Israeli military budget since October 7, and it must end NOW before an invasion in Rafah.

Over the last seven months, we have seen unspeakable horror in Gaza. Millions of people are on the brink of famine. Aid workers were targeted and killed for trying to help those in need. Enough is enough. I do not want my tax dollars to be used for weapons to kill innocent civilians in Gaza.
