Why do you oppose California resuming lethal injections?

Do not guarantee the media can either see or hear all phases of the execution procedure.
Lack safeguards to prevent the execution of inmates who suffer from severe mental illness or other problems that could render them legally incompetent to be executed.
Fail to include adequate safeguards to prevent executions that are stayed by a court at the very last minute.
Fail to provide clear guidelines for how execution drugs are obtained, even though the state has tried to obtain the drugs illegally in the past.
Lack guidelines to ensure that a compounded injectable drug for use in an execution is safe, efficacious, and legally obtained.
Discriminate against women by limiting the access female inmates have to their lawyers, spiritual advisors, and family in their final hours.
Discriminate against non‐religious/non‐spiritual inmates by failing to allow special visitation for a non‐religious/non‐spiritual advisor or counselor.
Fail to account for the $150 million per year the state could save if the death penalty were to be eliminated.
    Subject whistleblowers to potential retribution.
Are inconsistent with international human rights law.
Violate national and international professional ethical standards for involvement of medical personnel in executions.
